Welcome upon Conditions: On Visiting a Multigenerational Immigrant House(hold)

Abstract This chapter builds upon extensive ethnographic research with South Asian diasporas in Britain. To depict and disentangle the complexity of such migrant collectives, three case studies are considered, different national religious backgrounds, diverse times migration. Mapping out as many Black-and-Minority-Ethnic districts London, I revisit my fieldwork a Bangladeshi family Newham, Sinhala Wembley Sikh one Ealing. Drawing from reiterated visits stays at their homes guest-and-ethnographer, reflect on how house(holding) is maintained each these dwellings, where up to four generations live under roof. In observing hybrid material cultures, am also sharing petty practices domesticity recording biographical stories several kin members.
